All Born Winners

There is a quote that I always believe in
'That some achieve great success,
is proof to all that others can achieve it as well'
-Abraham Lincoln

People always make themselves believe that none of us are equal
But the truth is, we all are
We all are made the same way
we are all born the same way

Thousands and millions of sperms
but only one made it to the egg.

This very fact alone makes all of us a born winner

But why is it only some people are rich and wealthy
and some are not?
(Well, first I have to say, wealth is different to everyone.
One can be wealthy in a lot of ways)

The reason I believe, is all about attitude.
A person's attitude is make all the difference.
Change that attitude of saying:
'No I don't know'
'No I don't think I can do it'
'She is smarter that's why she is more successful'

Throw that all out and bury it 6 feet under.
Now say:
'No I don't have the answer now, but I will find out'
'Yes I believe I can do it'
'She is smarter in some way but I will work even harder'

Have you heard of the car rental companies Hertz and Avis?
Hertz is the number one car rental company
Avis is second
Avis' slogan is: 'We try harder'

That is the sort of winning mentality, winning attitude that will one day push them to become number one.

So I would just like to ask.
Are you behaving like a born winner now?

(no subject)

A few years back there was this one guy
(I don't remember his name)
He had a crazy idea, a silly one
He remembered playing a game called 'Bigger and Better'
when he was young
This game, you have to take an ordinary object
and trade for something of a higher value

So he decided to do it, starting with a red paper clip
He promises to meet up with anybody who offers to trade

From a wooden novelty pen to a petrol-powered generator
From a total body hair removal to a full body tattoo
And finally a movie role which he traded for a 3-bedroom house
Who's this guy?
He's the guy who swapped a red paperclip for a house

It's an amazing story which I think you all should go and read ( in full not bits and pieces that I write about)
And I feel that there's a number of things we can learn from this

1. If you have an idea, no matter how ridiculous or improbable it may seem, do it
Abandon that fixed mindset of ours and the society
The society fears what it doesn't know, you shouldn't

2. A goal is as important as action itself
The guy above, he got around 20 offers when he first started off.
He stated: "I want to trade this paperclip for something bigger and better
maybe a pen, a spoon, or perhaps a boot.

Then something changed when he stated in his blog:
'I am trading from a paperclip up to something bigger and better: A house'
And he got over 120,000 hits
What was the difference? A goal. Period

3. It is not who you are, but what you do that matters to people
Like my story, I may not remember his name, but I remember what he do
And its always this case isn't it.
So do something worthy today, and be remembered for what you did

Gift Ideas

What if you give a gift to a friend
And it's actually a rented DVD / borrowed library book.
Their excitement disappears
when they know they have to return it

Or they can just not return it depending on how mad they are at you

The only flaw is this plan is that
the rental is done under your name

If only there's a way to make your friend borrow it for you.
That ought to be fun !

What I Have Learned in An Investment Firm

I have been in an investment firm for a little over a month now
And being surrounded by people
Who talk and live investment
You can't help but get influenced a little
To learn more about it
And possibly try your hand at it

I learned that there are a whole lot of stuff regarding investment
Trust fund, bonds, stocks, investment linked policies
From the almost risk free to and risk-seekers' fantasies

But no matter what you invest in
It is always important to know
What sort of risk you are exposing your money to
And are the possible returns justifiable for you to take that risk

I also learned that money placed in a bank or in my private biscuit can
Is money wasted
As it depreciates over the years

So, I may not have the capital to start my own investments now
But there is one thing I can do
In order not to let my money depreciate
To buy a chance that my money would grow

ToTo

I wonder if anyone has stumbled onto that.

Which Can of Coke

A can of Coke cost $1.20 in a coffee shop

The same can of Coke cost $8.00 in a hotel lobby

In both cases, people still buy that same can of Coke
Why?
Is there a difference between the two cans of coke?

No, there is no difference
Why people accept that it cost 7times more
Is because of how it is positioned

Take that Coke from the hotel and sell it at the coffee shop
People will call you a crazy man
But it didn't seem so crazy in the hotel

Like the Coke, we all have a price tag being placed on us by others or by the society
Smack! Your service is worth $2,500 a month to me
Smack! $800 a month

But why should we conform to this
Shouldn't we decide what our own price tags are?

Today you can be better than you were
Today you can be worth 7times more than before
Today you can choose to be that can of Coke in the hotel

All it takes is a decision
A decision to choose to take control of your life

Which can of Coke do you want to be.

Stories I Fall Back On

Throughout our lives we come across a lot of amazing stories
Stories which hit a spot in our hearts, stories that make us cry. . .
But no matter what story I come across
Sooner or later I will fall back to this story

The story of the 4 Minute Mile
I am sure a lot of you are familiar with you
But this is not about telling you something new
It is about telling you something that inspired me

There was once when doctors and scientists prove that
it was impossible for a human to run a mile under 4 minutes
that it was beyond the human's physical capabilities
They say it was at best 'an impossible dream'

But Roger Bannister had a dream, a goal
To be the first person to run the 4 minute mile
And he set his mind to it
Training hard, endured thousands of monotonous laps
Just to one day beat that impossible dream

He finally did it in 1954 by running a mile in 3minutes 59.4 seconds
And just 2 months after his feat, someone else beat his record
And within the next 3 years 16 runners broke the record
and achieved the 'impossible dream'

What happened in that 3 years?
What happened was that Roger Bannister showed everybody hope
He showed everyone that the 4 minute mile was in fact possible
And it was all it took
A change of mindset

'That some achieve great success
is proof to all that others can achieve it as well'
-Abraham Lincoln

Will Smith in 'The Pursuit of Happyness' said this:
Christopher Gardner: [to his son]
You got a dream, you gotta protect it.
People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can’t do it.
You want something? Go get it. Period.
Change your mindset
Achieve what you want
Period

Hoppa The Happy Roller Dog

Stumbled upon this article about this dog who was born without its 2 front legs.
Because of that it was having trouble moving about so some animal loving arts students
came up with a gadget to improve Hoppa's life.

Look how happy Hoppa is

In another story is another dog named Faith born with deformatives to her front leg,
which was eventually removed when she was 7 months because it was starting to atrophy.
Even though it is without the wheels of Hoppa, it still finds a way to be happy and carry on living her life.

What the Future Holds

I cried while watching the last episode of Glee (its a great new tv series)
Who would have guessed

I think it ignited something in me maybe
Tugged a heart string
Telling myself that I've never really achieve anything in my life

And its too late now
The Glorious Youth is, for me
not so glorious after all
And there's nothing I can do about it

Seeing those Glee kids perform
Just made me think back about my life
What Ifs. . .

So what am I going to do for my life?
I don't know

A Story To Share

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet..
He held up a sign which said: “I am blind, please help.”
There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by.
He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat.
He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words.
He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up.
A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy.
That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were.
The boy recognized his footsteps and asked,
“Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?”

The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.”

I wrote: “Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it.”

Both signs told people that the boy was blind.
But the first sign simply said the boy was blind.
The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind.
Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story:
Be thankful for what you have.. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile
Face your past without regret.
Handle your present with confidence.
Prepare for the future without fear.
Keep the faith and drop the fear.

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling…

And even more beautiful is, knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

Sometimes we read a story and we love it so much
But over the years we forget about the story
And when we read it again
We remember why we loved it in the first place
